Microsoft Power Platform Fundamentals - 1 day

This course provides a foundational overview of Power Virtual Agents, Power Automate, and Power Apps, alongside a high-level introduction to Power BI. The curriculum is centred around a real-world scenario derived from my previous employment, where we manually managed a process that we now automate. We will construct a Power App using Microsoft Power Apps to monitor tasks associated with home construction (utilising SharePoint for data storage due to its simplicity). Subsequently, we will employ Power Virtual Agents to demonstrate how to enable bots within Microsoft Teams, guiding users to documents that may be dispersed across various SharePoint sites, such as loan agreements, budgets, and sales contracts (as illustrated in the course example). I believe there is significant potential for these bots within HR and IT teams, particularly for managing repetitive inquiries. I will also demonstrate how to configure straightforward flows in Power Automate to save attachments from designated senders (in this instance, saving attachments from inspections arranged by the bank for the units). Additionally, we will explore other simple flows that save data from Microsoft Forms back to SharePoint and establish fully automated processes using the Approvals app within Microsoft Teams. Once the app, bot, and flow are established, the final step involves creating a basic Power BI report. We will use Power Automate to dispatch a snapshot of the table containing the most recent completed tasks every two weeks to a specific recipient (the bank in this example). This report will request a drawdown, including the date the tasks were completed and the corresponding budget amounts (all details collected within the app). As this course covers the material at a high level, I recommend learners leverage ChatGPT for more technical aspects, such as coding or formulas in Power Apps. However, this is addressed within the course, where I demonstrate how to utilise ChatGPT effectively to assist with Power Apps formulas.
