The Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) serves as an architectural framework for the United States Department of Defense. It offers a structured approach to addressing specific stakeholder concerns by organising them into viewpoints across various views.

DoDAF establishes a collection of views that function as tools for visualising, comprehending, and assimilating the wide scope and complexities of an architecture description. These are achieved through tabular, structural, behavioural, ontological, pictorial, temporal, or graphical methods.

This framework is particularly well-suited for large-scale systems that face complex integration and interoperability challenges. It is notably distinct in its utilisation of operational views, which detail the external customer's operating domain in which the system being developed will function.
